Student Design Showcase
La Carpa - A Mobile Memory Museum
_
Below is a slideshow of the La Carpa proposals that students from professor Mick Kennedy's graduate architecture studio presented to the community on October 23, 2011. They were given fairly simple constraints: 1) the design must be mobile; 2) it should incorporate interactivity and community involvement; 3) whenever possible, it should reflect the broad aesthetic and cultural traditions of Latina/o communities.
In January 2012, the architecture students will present a second round of concepts for the design of a brick and mortar museum in Southwest Detroit. Those proposals will be available for public review at a community meeting in January, and afterwards, they will be displayed here on this site.
